Bubble tea review: Tea Wei, Tel Aviv

The most authentic bubble tea in Israel

As Israelis become more aware of popular East Asian delicacies like bubble tea, more and better outlets are appearing. Tea Wei is the best bubble tea place we’ve come across in Israel so far. (Feel free to disagree in the comments!)

Tucked into a cosy corner of Bugrashov Street in Tel Aviv, this small and classily furbished outlet looks like any modern café in this city. But stepping inside, and looking past the requisite coffee machine, one sees the raison d’être of this establishment: high-quality, handmade, authentic bubble tea.

A small range of milk and fruit teas is available, all made with ingredients that are fresh or from Asia, and of course with the option of adding tapioca bubbles or grass jelly. Every drink this author tried was just like the bubble teas in Asia, and more importantly, delicious and refreshing. The ginger milk tea is particularly satisfying during winter, with a strong kick to the sinuses upon consumption.

Due to being a small, independent place, the servers at Tea Wei (who are fortuitously mostly from China) are happy to discuss options at length with customers. The service is friendly and casual.

The bubble tea revolution is upon Israel at last, and Tea Wei is, indeed, leading the way.
